The Best Protein Energy Balls (Ready in 20 Minutes!)

As a busy dad, finding a snack that's both healthy and quick can be a real challenge. I needed something I could grab on the go that wasn't loaded with sugar or weird additives. That's when I landed on these protein energy balls, and honestly, they're a total game-changer.

With just a handful of natural ingredients and less than 20 minutes of your time, you can whip up a batch of these delicious, guilt-free treats. They're perfect for a post-workout refuel, a mid-afternoon energy boost, or just a healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Amount Ingredient
3/4 cup Almonds
3/4 cup Medjool Dates (pitted)
1/3 cup Unsweetened Coconut Flakes (+ extra for rolling)
2 tbsp Cacao Powder
1 tbsp Protein Powder (I use TGS unflavored for max protein)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Pinch Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add all of your ingredients almonds, pitted dates, coconut flakes, cacao powder, protein powder, vanilla extract, and salt into the bowl of a food processor.

  2. Blend It Up: Secure the lid and blend everything for about five minutes. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides a couple of times to make sure everything gets mixed in. You're looking for a rich, dark, sticky consistency where the mixture starts to clump together.

  3. Check the Texture: If the mixture seems too dry or crumbly, just toss in one or two more pitted medjool dates and blend again. This usually does the trick to get that perfect "Play-Doh" like texture.

  4. Roll 'Em Up: Scoop out the mixture and roll it between your hands to form bite sized balls. This recipe should give you about 13 to 14 balls.

  5. Add the Finishing Touch: Spread your extra coconut flakes on a plate or in a shallow bowl. Roll each ball in the flakes until it's nicely coated.

  6. Chill and Enjoy: Toss them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge. They're delicious right away, but they firm up a bit after chilling.

That's All It Takes!

Seriously, it's that easy. You now have a healthy, homemade snack ready for the entire week. These are so much better than anything you can buy at the store, and you know exactly what’s in them.
