My All-Time Favorite Protein Smoothie: "The Incredible Hulk"
I've tried a lot of protein smoothies over the years, but there's one recipe I always come back to. It’s perfect any time of day, whether you need a quick breakfast, a post-workout boost, or even a healthy dessert. It’s packed with good stuff, tastes amazing, and has a great green color, so I call it "The Incredible Hulk."
This is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite protein smoothie. The avocado and frozen banana make it incredibly creamy, the date adds just the right amount of natural sweetness, and the spinach is completely hidden. It's just a delicious, healthy, and easy-to-make drink.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount | Chill Dad Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Milk (of choice) | 1 Cup | I prefer to use Fairlife 2% for the extra protein, but use whatever you like. |
| Baby Spinach | 1 Handful | This is where it gets that "Hulk" green. Don't worry, you can't taste it! |
| Frozen Banana | 1 Medium | The frozen banana is key for a thick, creamy texture. |
| Ripe Avocado | 1 Small | Adds healthy fats and makes it incredibly smooth. |
| Pitted Medjool Date | 1 | For a bit of natural sweetness. |
| Protein Powder | 2 Scoops | I use TGS unflavored for max protein. Your favorite vanilla or unflavored will also work. |
| Honey | (Optional) | A quick drizzle if you like it a little sweeter. |
| Coconut Flakes | (Optional) | A sprinkle on top for a nice finish. |
Instructions
This is the easy part. Add all of your main ingredients (milk, spinach, frozen banana, avocado, medjool date, and protein powder) into your blender.
If you're using it, add a small drizzle of honey.
Secure the lid and blend on high for at least 20 to 30 seconds, or until everything is completely smooth and creamy.
Pour into a glass. If you want to get fancy, sprinkle a few coconut flakes on top.
Enjoy!
Conclusion
That’s all there is to it. You get a smoothie with great flavors, healthy fats, and a ton of protein, all with just the right amount of sweetness. It seriously tastes amazing and works just as well for a snack as it does for a dessert.
